Onunu: Food for Kings and Queens


Rivers State is very rich not only with hydrocarbon but also with mouth watering local delicacies.

Onunu is one of those delicacies common to the mostly Ijaw ethnic group in Rivers State.

It is prepared by a combination of yam and ripe plantains mashed together with palm oil to form a paste and can be eaten with any type of pepper soup or stew.

Belema Nelson Onikio popularly known as the Onunu boy is among the very few persons that runs a special delivery service to cater for the increasing demand for this rich Rivers delicacy.
